After driving around the city and not being able to find parking by Copley, the Mo and I headed to Assembly Row where there is a plethora of free parking. We picked up some things for ourselves at the outlet stores before grabbing lunch at Legal on the Mystic. It was Sunday around noon and the restaurant was only half occupied.

Bibimbap, drunken noodles, sushi and more at 3 Country Bistro in Woburn
To kick off our four day holiday weekend, Tayla treated me to a nice Asian luncheon in Woburn. She introduced me to 3 Country Bistro on Main Street in the smack of Woburn Center. I've heard of the restaurant and always thought the name was weird, "country" suggests there would be grits and gravy on the menu. Then I realized, that "3 Country" implied that the menu boasts dishes from Thailand, Korea and Japan.

All-You-Can-Eat-Soup at Uno's
Uno's has an amazing "All you can eat soup" special during the lunch rush. For only $6.99, you get breadsticks, a garden or Caesar salad and unlimited soup! Choices change daily but you can always count on French onion, clam chowder, tomato and some kind of vegetarian soup.
It was a cold afternoon and my friends and I were in the mood for some hot soup to warm us up. We headed to the Uno's in the Woburn Mall location a few miles from our office. The restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived and we were seated in the dining area where the soup station was located.

Modern sushi and Asian cuisine at Nobo in Chelmsford
Move over Sushi Yanagi, I've found a new favorite sushi joint in Chelmsford! I've been meaning to check this place out since its opening earlier this year but for some reason, we never got a chance to. The Mo and I finally visited last Friday to celebrate my birthday (and to rack extra points on Chase First Fridays Dining!)
Spider Roll $9.50 |
We went around 9 PM and the place was pretty busy. There are 2 sides, one is more of a lounge and the other is a dining area with a sushi bar where you can sit and watch the chefs prep maki rolls and sushi boats.

36 hours Grand stay at the new St.Regis in Mumbai
St Regis Mumbai Photo Courtesty of Starwoodhotels.com |
I was intrigued by the hotel special because the club room included airport transfers, cocktail hour(s), breakfast, high tea, early check-in and late check-out.
To our nice surprise, the hotel would be acquired by the premier St.Regis brand and I would be staying at an exclusive hotel.

Afternoon high tea at St.Regis Mumbai
During our stay at St.Regis Mumbai, we were treated to a delightful afternoon high tea experience in the drawing room. Traditionally, high tea was a social event for upper class British where they can get in a quick bite in between meals since their dinners were later in the evening and much more formal and lengthy, not to mention getting dressed for the dinner itself. (Think Downton Abby)
In addition to the other high end hotels like the Taj Mahal Palace and the Taj Lands End, St.Regis jumped on the bandwagon and offered its own version of the tea service.

Sunset & Cockails at Go with the Flow Baga Beach Goa
Go with the Flow was one of my favorite dining experiences in India. The ambiance was wonderful and the food was great. Prices were very reasonable and we had a great time. Also, all profits from the restaurant goes to the Samarpan Foundation, "surrendering your identify to the Universe." The non-profit charity serves the most poor and vulnerable people so I was happy that we were dining for a good cause.
We were told that the best sunset view was from the tower at Go with the Flow in Baga Beach Goa. One can sit in the funky chairs, sip on cocktails and watch all the fisherman's boat come in.

Shisha and Dancing on Baga Beach
Safil's Beach Shack on Baga Beach was one of my favorite places to hang out in Goa. We took a late nap and woke up around 9:30 PM before heading out on Halloween. There were some people dressed up and others with just a basic light up prop. Our AirBnb hostess told us that the expats up north in Arpora go nuts and get fully dressed up because most of them are western. We were invited to a party but opted to stay in Baga beach since the taxi ride was another 20 minutes away and we didn't bring any costumes.
Baga beach is a quick 10 minute walk from our hotel down Tito's lane where there is a plethora of shops, restaurants and bars. It reminds me of Pub Street in Siem Reap, Bar street in Faliraki but not as raucous as Bangla Road in Patong.
Weddings, infinity pool and spa retreat at Alila Diwa
After a 37 hour door to door journey, we were relieved to enter the grounds of Alila Diwa Goa. Sure, our taxi got scanned for bombs and we had to walk through metal detectors but once we were in, we were ushered to seats in the open air lobby where refreshing towels and juice was brought to us. We were told the hotel was booked to occupancy for the weekend so I wasn't too thrilled to hear that off the bat.
The hotel grounds are exceptionally beautiful. Some people have different definitions of beauty but I loved the infinity pool against the paddy fields. Workers were constantly cleaning leaves and brush form the pool and the grounds to keep it immaculate.

Breakfast and Birthday on Etihad Business Class
I ain't gonna lie, I am getting used to the star/celebrity treatment on business class. Unless we are using miles to upgrade, I refuse to pay for it. It's still TOO much money. Being a Business/First Class passenger is like being the prettiest girl in the room. The cabin crew is eager to please to the point where it may be cumbersome.
For the leg of our flight from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai, we arrived to the gate 20 minutes before take off and boarded the plane. The plane was on the smaller side and was an A321 so there was no first class and just a mediocre business class. The seats aren't that nice. I was a bit more alive than our JFK flight despite it being 2:30 in the Morning local time.
Lounge Hopping from JFK to Abu Dhabi to Mumbai
For the Mo's birthday this year, we are off to India! It will be a very short trip (10 days). I wished we could stay longer but I don't have any vacation time left!! Sometimes I think my company should get on the train along with other companies like Groupon, Netflix, etc that offers their employees unlimited vacation days, Hey I ain't complainin', just wishful thinking.
To get to the beach resort of Goa, India, we'd have to take 4 flights with a "door to door" time frame of about 37 hours. Hopefully, it will all be worth it when we get there!

Sunday Brunch at Tavern in the Square - Burlington
I'll keep this short and let you see the pics for themselves. I've been meaning to try the Sunday brunch at Tavern in the Square for quite some time now but it seems like such a pain the ass to drive 18 minutes from Lowell on a Sunday.
After a long weekend of drinking, we decided to bite the bullet and do it. I did not regret it at all. We arrived around 10:45 AM and the parking lot was already full. Brunch starts at 10:00 Am and gets busy pretty quickly, I would recommend making reservations.
The menu items change on a weekly basis but some of the stations remain constant.

1981 Ramen Bar
This has got to be the best new addition to Downtown Lowell's dining scene.
We had planned on checking out Oktoberfest at JFK plaza but once we walked by the event, it looked pretty sad. There's wasn't any live music, there were no heated tents and there was no crowd. I didn't want to pay $5.00 to get in, buy cold food and drink beer with the wind blowing on my face. Instead, we headed to Cobblestones and got a round of drinks and some apps.

Lunch Buffet at Seoul Kitchen
On our last visit to Seoul Kitchen in Westford, I saw a sign for the lunch buffet offered on weekdays. The website advertised the buffet to include a "drink, soup, sushi, Korean BBQ, a variety of Asian dishes, desserts and more!" for only $14.99.
I was bummed because Westford is no where near where I work and I would never be able to try it! Columbus Day came around and we had the day off work and were furniture shopping off 495 and thought to stop by for lunch. After-all, it was Monday so the buffet would be hope! *Crossing our fingers*
We arrived right before 2:00 PM, the last sitting for the lunch buffet. The variety looked plenty but the food quantity was lacking a bit. The employee quickly said to me "We are adding more food soon" once she saw me snapping pics of the buffet tables.

Hot Pot and more at the Purple Bamboo in Billerica
I've been driving by Purple Bamboo, a new restaurant in Billerica on my commute for a few weeks now. The restaurant recently opened up in August in an awkward location on 3A near McDonalds/Stelios.
I finally got a chance to visit for a birthday celebration with 6 other girls on a Fall Sunday evening. The restaurant has a main dining area with a bar as well as a separate dining room featuring tables with built in burners for hot pot. Hot Pot or "Shabu Shabu" or "Sukiyai" isn't a new concept but the popularity is growing. Boston's Chinatown alone features many eateries with the nabemono style of eating with restaurants like all you can eat Hot Pot Buffet, Shabu Zen and The Q. The "cook your own" meal features a variety of meats, seafood and veggies that you can choose to cook and simmer on your own tabletop served alongside with other noodles and condiments.

Express lunch at Romano's Kitchen counter
I've actually never eaten at Romano's Macaroni Grill before but I received a great email deal for lunch. The special was 2 lunches for $10.00 from their Romano's kitchen counter menu. It's a different approach to a seated lunch. You arrive, look at the menu, order and pay then sit. When the food is ready, it's brought out to your table. There is still a server that gets water and sets the table.
The menu consists of 2 salads, a variety of sandwiches served on fresh ciabatta bread, calzones and a handful of pasta entrees. Since the price is so cheap, they charge a buck for their delicious "Rosemary Peasant Bread" (which is HUGE) and you can also get cookies, chips, side salads and tiramisu at an additional small cost.

Korean Dinner at Seoul Kitchen in Westford
We wanted to celebrate Dary's milestone 21st birthday over some nice cocktails and dinner so we headed over to The Sunset Tiki Bar in Westford. Stupid us, we never made reservations and the wait would be over an hour and a half during prime dinner time. Since we were starving, we opted not to wait and check out other places nearby.
After a few google searches for "sushi", we found Seoul Kitchen a few miles away serving, "creative sushi, traditional Korean and craft cocktails." The restaurant was pretty busy when we arrived. Diners enjoyed the warm summer weather on the patio while imbibing pints of imported beers.

Rainy days calls for pho at Cilantro in Woburn
When it rains, nothing cheers me up more than a nice hot bowl of Pho, a traditional favorite Vietnamese noodle soup. I'm spoiled by the many options in the Lowell area with so many local mom and pop shops but it's quite a different story near my work in Burlington, MA. I've been quite loyal to Pho 1 Woburn but sometimes the parking and wait just doesn't cut it.

Girl's Night out at Strega Prime in Woburn
I received an email invite for dinner and was sold at "RESTAURANT WEEK. Yup, count me in for dinner with 7 other girls at Strega Prime in Woburn. I'm no newbie to the restaurant but it's always fun to get out with the girls, take some tequilla shots, let our hair down and converse about things we probably shouldn't discuss at the dinner table.
For the Boston restaurant week special, Strega Prime was offering a 3 course dinner menu for $38.00. Starters included chilled corn soup, caprese salad and smoke tuna tartare. For dinner entrees, patrons could choose between the 6 oz filet, grilled salmon, cornish hen or pappardelle. The two dessert options were chocolate cream pie and creme brulee.

Amore Mondays at Carrabba's Italian Grill in Tynbsboro
The Mo and I have never dined at a Carrabba's restaurant before. We were in the area after stocking up on some goods at Costco down the street and wanted to grab dinner before heading home. He found a credit card offer for $10.00 off $25.00 or more so we headed to Carrabbas's Italian Grill in Tynbsboro.
The restaurant was pretty busy for a Monday night. Our server greeted us and gave us our menus and to our surprise, there was an "Amore Monday" special with prix fixe selections that include a full size appetizer, soup or salad, entree or dessert (in lieu of the app) starting at only $12.99. What a steal! Not only do we get 3 courses, we also have the coupon! (Not to mention the free bread basket!)
At first I thought the appetizers would be on the smaller side, but once the calamari and caprese were brought to our table, I realized I was wrong. The calamari was OK but the caprese salad was amazing. I love the contrasting course black pepper and salt with the sweet balsamic glaze.

Salad # 16: Loaded Wedge salad with bacon and more
This is going to be short because I'm a bit embarrassed this is considered a salad. It's high in fat, calories and it has no nutritional value. Even the "green" stuff called iceberg lettuce doesn't really have much to it. Despite all of that, I still LOVE it and it's one of my favorite staples at a steakhouse.
My version includes iceberg lettuce, lots of bacon, balsamic glaze, olives, red onion, Danish blue cheese and of course extra blue cheese dressing. Sometimes I like to be fancy and throw on some sliced scallions for garnish.

Salad #14:Black Fig & Gorgonzola Meets Chickpea & Quinoa
One of my new favorite places for lunch is Papa Razzi Metro in Burlington. Of course I've already blogged about it before HERE, but today its a special post because it s bookmarked in the "28 Days of Salad" section.
The lunch menu has a few choices for salad, pizza, panini as well as some limited entree offerings. Typically, I'd go with a panini and fries or a pizza but today I went with a salad. I love their fluke panini and I'm a HUGE fan of their vegetarian option which has chicken pea and quinoa cake (and I'm not even VEGETARIAN)!
I decided I wanted to create a salad that wasn't on the menu by combining two different dishes. Luckily for me, the chef was pretty accommodating and created a delicious lunch! I know I know, I'm a pain in the ass and I can never just order a standard dish of the menu, and so the Mo and Jill tells me so.

The BEST DONUT ever at the new Boston Public Market
To escape the summer heat, the Mo and I headed into the air conditioned newly-opened Boston Public Market that showcases close to 40 different local vendors hawking the most fresh butchered meats, organic vegetables, homemade dressings, beautiful floral creations, local craft beers and the like. If you're not in the mood to shop and carry around good, you can still enjoy the atmosphere and dine at one of the eateries or snack shops.

Salad # 13: Peephup Tmei "French Beef" Salad
I'm sad to say that my FAVORITE salad on this blog series so far is one that I didn't make. Lisa & BG introduced me to this salad a few months back when they brought it over to my place for pot luck. When she first told me, "We're gonna pick up a beef salad form Peephup Tmei, BG really likes it", I was a bit confused. Is she bringing beef plear (the Cambodian raw beef salad cooked in lime juice).
When the dish arrived, it was not your typical Cambodian salad. It was grilled (or fried) marbleized cut of beef atop a bed of spring mix, topped with sliced black and green olives, red onions, carrots and bell peppers. The salad had already been mixed with the restaurant's house dressing. (No you can't buy it on its own either, I already asked)

Lunch buffet at Mandarin Reading
No one could decide where to go for lunch so my coworkers and I drove 12 minutes down 95 and headed towards Mandarin Reading for their daily lunch buffet.
Usually parking is tough in the crowded parking lot but we scored a prime spot by the entrance a little past noon.
Originally, some of us were going to order sushi a la carte but once we saw the sushi chef prepare the sushi platter, it was a done deal to go with the buffet option for $12.50 per person.

My first Hot N Juicy experience
It's all the rave! Every time a friend visits Vegas, DC, or Florida, my FB feed blows up with pics of my friends wearing silly bibs with buckets of crustacean shell in the foreground. I've never been and I was totally stoked to hear that there was a franchise location within 20 minutes of our resort in Arizona. Yay, I can finally try and blog about this place!
Garden salad topped with Tuna Fish salad
Salad # 9 : Garden salad topped with tuna fish salad
I'll skip the nutrition facts and Myfitnesspal calorie count for this salad as well. It can be as light as you want or as calorie laden as you want, I prefer the latter.
If it's on sale, I typically buy the prepackaged salad blends. This week, it was only $1.25 at Shaw's for a 9 oz bag of Fresh Express "Premium Romaine" Blend. For my tuna salad, I like to add sliced bell peppers, sugar snap peas, black olives and pepperoncinis for some added flavor and texture for the base of the salad.
For the tuna salad itself, I use a large 6.4 oz bag of tuna. I prefer the bag over can because its easier to open and clean up. I add a squirt of yellow mustard, teaspoon of dijon mustard, 4 tablespoons of mayonnaise (yikes!) some equal (artificial sweeter), 1 teaspoon of relish, diced celery (if I happen to have some stalks sitting in the fridge, a dash of salt and ground black pepper) Mix it up and fridge it. This will last for 2-3 salads.

Tickets were $125.00 each and included a cocktail hour, a live cooking demonstration by the chef Joe Faro himself, a multi course dinner with wine pairing and a favor bag filled with goodies.
The beautiful evening started with amazing pineapple mojitos and sangria on the side patio. There were a tasting of the "Artisan Cured Meats and Specialty Cheese" on display and a couple of passed hor d'oeuvres that included beef crostini and colossal bacon wrapped scallop.

Huge samosas & fresh garlic naan at Zaika Indian Bistro
I never knew this cozy Indian restaurant existed. $ 8.95 lunch buffet in WOBURN!
Zaika Indian Bistro is situated on the busy Main street in Woburn Center. Parking is a bit tricky in downtown but if you're lucky you can get street parking or walk a couple blocks and park in the city's lot by the bowling alley.
I arrived at the restaurant at quarter past noon and it was already busy. There were lots of business diners as well as a few families. They sat me in the corner by the window. I was happy to be surrounded by the natural light (better opportunity for food pics !)
